The European Union through its various programmes promotes sustainable development.
In this context, and in the framework of the links it is forging with the countries of the southern neighbourhood, the European Railway Agency (ERA) organised its final EUMedRail conference in Brussels on November 15th and 16th, bringing together various officials and experts from the European Committee of the Regions, the the European Commission’s DG MOVE, the Union for the Mediterranean, the Intergovernmental Organisation for International Carriage by Rail (OTIF), as well as national delegations represented by National Transport Coordinators and/or Rail Focal Points from the various countries present (Morocco, Palestine, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon and Algeria ).
The different presentations allowed to state the works and conclusions synthesising the achievements, challenges and lessons for the future of the EuroMed project. The ERA aims to promote rail safety and interoperability.
In this framework, IFF was invited to present its Euro-Mediterranean experiences in the field of professional training and the creation of training organisations. The conference ended with a visit to the new Infrabel Training Facility, where the participants and the managers of this training facility shared their experiences.
